You also get my Respect Training Program.

Respect training is MORE than obedience training.

Much more than obedience training.

With RESPECT TRAINING, your dog learns:

  • To listen to you
  • To pay attention to you
  • To follow your directions
  • To look at you when you speak to him
  • To let you do ANYTHING with him

When your dog respects you, he looks up to you. He will do anything for you, and he trusts you to do anything with HIM. A respect-based relationship makes your dog a terrific companion.

Here's a sample of what your dog will learn...

  • To immediately stop what he's doing when you say "No."

  • To sit on command. And to STAY sitting. Yes, even when you walk away from him. Yes, even when distractions tempt him to move.

  • To take things gently from your hand. No grabbing.

  • To look directly at you when you say his name.

Well-behaved dog sitting politely, listening to owner

  • To listen attentively when spoken to. Imagine a dog who pays close attention to what you say!

  • To come when called. Always.

  • To never run from you. NEVER.

  • To wait inside your door or gate. Even when it opens -- even when there are distractions tempting him outside -- until you tell him he can go through.

When you think of how often doors and gates open (every day), this lesson alone is worth the price of the whole program.

  • To wait inside your car without jumping out, even when the doors open.

  • To play fetch -- to bring his ball or toy back to you after you throw it.

  • To let go of something when you hold out your hand and ask for it. No more tug-of-war when you need to take something from him.

  • To search for a specific toy that you ask him to find and bring to you. Lots of fun and VERY impressive to see!

  • To walk politely on the leash. No more towing you down the street.

  • To "heel" close beside your left leg when you need him to be especially attentive, such as when another dog is coming toward you.

  • To find his way home, even from several streets away. Think how valuable this skill will be if, God forbid, he should ever become lost.

  • To lie down when you tell him to.

    Dog lying down

  • To STAY lying down for a half-hour while you do normal household chores. Yes, a full half-hour!

Most obedience classes teach your dog to lie down for only THREE MINUTES while you stand at the end of the leash. In real life, this is useless. You want your dog to lie down and stay put in a corner of the room, off leash, while you (and your guests) do your own thing. Follow the instructions in my program and your dog will do a 30-minute Down-Stay.

  • Here's something even MORE impressive...

Your dog will learn to lie down quickly when you give an Emergency Down hand signal.

    • Even when he's all the way across the room or yard.
    • Even when he's running or playing.

The Emergency Down can be a true lifesaver if you suddenly need to stop your dog in his tracks.

I have lots more to teach! Your dog will learn...

  • To drop whatever is in his mouth when you tell him to. You never know what sort of trash he might pick up when going for a walk!

  • To stop barking when you tell him to.

  • To greet guests politely. No jumping on people who don't want to be jumped on.

  • To be housebroken. (This means going to the bathroom outdoors, or indoor litter box training for very small dogs.)

  • To stay home alone without barking or chewing things up.

  • To get along with strangers and other dogs.

No barking. No growling. No hiding behind your legs, tail tucked. No standing up on his hind legs, pawing at you to be picked up. No bolting fearfully to the end of the leash, trying to escape.

  • To do 11 tricks! Shake hands. Speak. Crawl. Play dead. Roll over. Beg. Dance. Circle. Kiss. Back up. Catch.

Dog sitting up on hindquarters, doing a trick

  • To stand patiently while you brush his coat.

  • To open his mouth so you can brush his teeth.

  • To lift each paw so you can clip his toenails.

  • To accept touching on any part of his body. No struggling or fussing!

  • To recognize the individual names of all the members of your family -- and to search for someone who is hiding. Also known as Hide 'n Seek!

  • To negotiate an obstacle course! Hurdles, tunnels, catwalks, even a seesaw. A fun and challenging course you can buy or build yourself.
