The most common health problems in Komondors:

The most common health problems are orthopedic, especially elbow dysplasia and hip dysplasia. The Orthopedic Foundation of America evaluated the hip X-rays of 850 Komondors and found 12% dysplastic.

As with all deep-chested breeds, Komondors are at higher-than-normal risk for the emergency gastrointestinal syndrome called bloat.

Eye diseases found in the breed include cataracts (which occur at a young age) and entropion (an eyelid abnormality).

Allergies cause itchy skin and can lead to bacterial infections (pyoderma). The profuse hair inside the ear canals can cause recurring ear infections.

Hypothyroidism occurs in Komondors, and the cancer rate is increasing.
