The Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) is NOT a Toy Collie or a Miniature Collie. The Sheltie was developed from similar ancestry as the Scottish Collie, so the two breeds have a similar appearance and share certain behaviors, but they are also different in significant ways and one was not bred down from the other. The Collie was developed in England, while the Sheltie was developed on the Shetland Islands off the coast of Scotland.
